On darkness

Its not the darkness that unites us.... if fucking bull shit. Darkness is the ultimate uniter. Darkness is often the place where true deep intimacy occurs for the first time. In a dimly lit movie theater, as our pinkies graze each other for the first time and a bolt electricity is immediately shot directly into your soul. Out dancing in a poorly lit night club where your eyes can deceive you so you rely on your sense of touch in order to connect with the person close to you. There are no names, no insecurities, no doubt, only passion and intimacy and genuine natural undiluted human connection in the dark. The darkness is where we first learn to become vulnerable. Vulnerable with ourselves. Vulnerable with other people. And to admit the things we would never say to anyone in the light. The beautiful comfort and protection of darkness is the thing that gives us courage to eventually step into the light and be seen for who we really are. Because being held and accepted in the darkness, teaches us that it is ok to accept ourselves
